Hello everyone! I got home yesterday. The holiday was great! I ate and spent time with the family. My mom spoiled Drake outrageously. I brought home lots of leftovers, including a pumpkin pie. Mmm, pie. How are you, flist? |

Thanksgiving is in a little less that two weeks and I am very excited! It is a great day of food and family. The whole house is filled with delicious smells and it's warm and loud (because OMG, my family is very, very loud) and kids are running around all over the place. It drives me crazy, but I love it too because, IDK, I guess as I get older that I appreciate my family more than I did when I was 20. It took me a long time to realize that I was luckier than some people. Not everyone has a place that will always be home for them, no matter how long they're gone. Not everyone has a family that will give you their last fifty bucks so that you can eat. Not everyone will add your name to the "from" on their gift tags because they know you can't afford to buy Christmas gifts that year. My family drives me insane. So, so insane. And sometimes I just want to smack them around, and I know they want to do the same to me, but I wouldn't want them any other way. |

Dear Yuletide Writer, First of all, I want to thank you for writing for me. I'm really excited and I'm a newbie at this whole YT thing, so forgive me if I ramble on. Likes: I'll pretty much read any type of story: het, femslash, slash, gen. Plot is not required for me; I love stories that explore relationships, whether those relationships are sexual or not. I especially love intense relationships. This is probably one of the reasons why I love angst stories. The angstier the better. I don't require a happy ending, necessarily, but I do like ones that are hopeful. Squicks; Character bashing. Yes, we all have our characters that we dislike, but I see no need to bash said characters. it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. What else, what else? Well, I don't like Mary/Marty-Sues and am really not that fond of Original Characters that take over the story. ( My fandom requests ) |

I had the test done yesterday. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Although the contacts with the wires attached to them are very weird. Every time I blinked my eyelids closed on them and my eyelashes brushed against them. And when I got out, my eyes were all gunky from all the drops and fake tears the tech put into my eyes. I couldn't see much of *anything* when I got out. My eyes are okay today, just a little dry. By tomorrow all should be well. It'll be a few weeks before the results are translated and transmitted back to my ophthalmologist. So I figure I'll hear something after Thanksgiving. Which, I don't mind, just in case it's not good news, ya know? Until then, I am not going to even worry about it. Because, to be honest, I have other stuff to concentrate on: finding a new job, getting a house in the near future, the holidays, Yuletide, I_MOP, the DV requestathon, etc... |

So Yuletide sign-ups have opened. I'm too exhausted to do it though. Emotionally I'm really tired right now. Work is horrid and I am finally taking that last test my ophthalmologist wants me to have to find out what's going on with my eyes. She's already determined it's genetic, but needs more info. *sighs* Still, Yuletide. |

1. First of all, if you haven't joined i_mop, then you really should. Well, I mean, if a month of porn is your thing, that is. :D 2. My mom came up on Thursday and she is leaving today because she wanted to be there for my ophthalmologist appointment. According to the doc, my issue is genetic, but she won't be able to tell me more until I have another test. This test requires special machinery that UC Davis *might* have, if not, I'll have to go to SF. *sighs* Then she'll know the extent and will be able to tell me more. Hopefully, they'll give me a call next week for the appt. Once the tests happen and I know more, I'll let you all know. 3. I love my mom, but she make me feel bad about the way that I am training Sir Stinky Butt. I always feel like I am a horribly abusive unloving loser to him when she's around. I know that's not to case, but I still feel like that and I'm kinda glad she's leaving today. Like I said, I love her, and I know she doesn't mean to do it, but, yeah. 4. Did I mention i_mop? Because you all should totally join.5. Blake, Blake, Blake, Blake, Blake, Blake, Blake. 6. I got the cool, awesome, wonderful Sir Francis Drake costume that entropy_house made for Sir Stinky Butt. Everyone oohed and aahed over it. Not to worry, there will be pictures.

So I think I've mentioned this here before but I've been spending a lot of time at the ophthalmologist after my optometrist noticed my eye pressure was really high and was afraid of glaucoma. Ophthalmologist said that my pressure was fine, but noticed that there are some areas in my vision where I can't see. After much testing, she finally found the issue-- I have retina damage. She's not an expert so I have a meeting with a retina specialist next week to see if the damage is degenerative. I'm trying not to freak out, but if I think about it too much my mind goes to scary places. *sighs* Therefore, I am trying not to think about it. Other than that, my orthodontist make a lot of happy noises when she looked at the progress my teeth have made. Yay to that! dumbasscat, the back of my hand still hurts!

I hate that RL is taking over my fandom time. But here I am. Yay! So what's been up with me? Nothing much. I spoke with that counselor about my financial situation and about how much of a loan I could get and how much I'll need to save up for a down payment. I can do it in a year. I'll have to scrimp and save and count every penny but I can do it. I'm pretty good financially, especially when a little over three years ago I hit rock bottom. But I pulled myself up and I've been keeping up with the bills I have. Actually, the counselor suggested I might want to start paying a little more than I am now to get my debt down. Which, yeah, I can do. It's so weird that I can, but good too. So, in about a year from now, I'll start looking for houses. Someone suggested, jokingly, that I should have a bake sale; of course, they've never had any of my baked goods. But my mom did say she'd let everyone know that I wanted money for Xmas and my birthday. *grins* Maybe I should be a webcam girl? |
